Northeast Vietnam 9 Days

The landscapes of North Vietnam are of legendary beauty, including mountain covered with vegetation, both on land and at sea (Ha Long Bay). Farther inland, the mountains are also home to an incredible mosaic of mountain people from diverse backgrounds, who have installed over multiple waves of migration from southern China, fleeing the Chinese expansionist push. We will meet these people on the mountain trails and on the markets in a region bordering China, the beautiful enigmatic rock formations, among which are ed rice terraces and villages. We first discovered on foot and by boat on Lake Ba Be, around which people live H’mong, Dao (pronounced Zao) and Tay. Then we will cross the limestone from the Upper Tonkin Cao Bang, Dong Khe up and That Khe, through a landscape of great beauty, inhabited by populations Tay, Nung and Dao. We will then explore by boat the famous Ha Long Bay

Day 1: Hanoi - Ba Be National Park (Lunch, Dinner, Guide)

Departing from Hanoi, you will embark on a route up into mountain areas north of Hanoi. On the way, you will pay a visit to the Thai Nguyen Minority and Culture Museum where you can learn something about the culture and traditions of the different minority groups in Vietnam. Lunch is at a local restaurant and then onwards to Ba Be National Park. This is one of the largest natural lakes in Vietnam, the landscape dominated by scenic valleys, towering rocky outcrops, underground river tributaries, and a gigantic cave.  It is also home to a huge variety of flora and fauna and several local ethnic minorities, including the Tay, Red Dao and Hmong.

Following an exploration of a spectacular cave, you will hike around small villages and along the riverfront. The night is spent with a local family in the traditional house of a Tay family to experience their way of life.

Day 2: Ba Be Lake - Na Nghe “Dao Ethnic Village” (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Guide)

Heaven trekking day! Your tour guide will take you to visit Coc Toc village where Tay people live by fishing. Water crossing in Pelu stream, a special experience for trekking. Today, you will have to cross on rough ruts. However, you will be annoyed by insects. Move to the top you must see the things as bewitch as paradise. You will be going on to upland and stop in Nam Dai village (Cash Dao people) where you will have a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, the guide will take you to visit the mountains, valleys and the stilt houses, school of the Cash Dao children. Then, you will have dinner in local homestay and spend the night at Na Nghe Village

Day 3: Ba Be Lake - Bo Lu Village (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Guide)

After breakfast, you and your guide say "goodbye" to the Cash Dao people the go through trail to visit Nam Dai village then go down the forest to visit Dau Dang waterfall which is within two provinces Bac Kan and Tuyen Quang. Lunch in Mr Hien restaurant, which in name “Ba Be Pirate” then boat trip tour up the river to visit Puong cave where inhabits over 1000 bats with 18 generals and famous with many stalactite and stalagmite. The boat will go on the Nang River which runs through the cave into Ba Be Lake. After visiting the An Ma temple, you will return the lake-shore restaurant. Stay in the home-stay.

Day 4: Hua Ma cave - Cao Bang (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Guide)

After breakfast, you will go past Babe forest to discover spectacular rivers, deep valleys, natural caves and undulating mountains. On the way, we stop at Huama cave to see one of the biggest caves in Vietnam. It can compare with Phongnha - Kebang cave. On the way to Cao Bang, you will stop for lunch in a local restaurant, continue to Ma Phuc pass then Cao Bang town, tonight we sleep in Quang Yuen village at homestay.

Day 5: Cao Bang - Ban Gioc  (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Guide)

Leave Quang Yuen, you will drive to visit Ban Gioc waterfalls, the highest and most spectacular in the area. Enjoy an imposing scene of Ban Gioc waterfalls then visit Nguom Ngao Cave. Return to Cao Bang you will stay overnight in Thanh Loan Hotel.

Day 6: Cao Bang - Lang Son - Halong bay (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Guide)

After breakfast at hotel, you will continue your trip to Lang Son with many stop over on the way: visit Tay village and meet Tay and Dao people, taking photos, rural market. Arrive in Lang Son, the capital mountainous. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Ha Long in Quang Ninh province, ranged as one of the wonder of the world by les Merveilles du monde, a book published in France. After dinner you will pay to visit night market or Halong dancing club. You will spend the night in Halong Bay.

Day 7: Hanoi - Halong Bay (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Guide)

After breakfast, you will be free until lunch time before being transferred to Halong Bay Cruise. The wondrous Halong Bay is truly one of Vietnam’s most impressive scenic sights. Heading out of the town then you embark on a boat for an exploration of the legendary Halong Bay. This exciting cruise will provide you a fantastic view of the picturesque scenery blending with the sky and some 3,000 limestone islands rising amazingly from the clear and emerald water. The limestone karsts formations are littered with beaches, grottoes and beautiful caves. Along the way you will anchor for a leisurely swim in a secluded cove and an enjoyable visit to one of the many hidden grottoes beneath towering cliffs. You will stay overnight on the Junk Cruise

Day 8: Halong Bay – Hanoi (Breakfast, Lunch, Guide)

Greet the day with a morning Tai Chi exercise with an opportunity to view the sunrise over the bay. After breakfast, you will visit beautiful limestone grotto then back to the boat for a final glimpse of the Halong Bay while cruising back to the dock. Your driver will be waiting for you at the pier and drive you back to Hanoi in the afternoon.

Day 9: Hanoi Departure (Breakfast, Driver Pickup)

After breakfast, you will be free at leisure until the driver arrives to take you to the airport to take your flight onward. End of service.
