This trip offers an easy trek combined with home stay in villages of Thai people. You will trek for five days through the scenic and peaceful villages and stay overnight in local homes where you have the chance to get to learn about culture of the Thai people.
Destinations: Hanoi – Mai Chau – Hang Kia village – Van village – Xo village – Pom Coong village – Nanh village- Hanoi
Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau – Hang Kia Village (Lunch, Dinner, Guide)
After breakfast at your hotel, your car and guide will pick you up then leave Hanoi for Mai Chau. On the road, you can view spectacular scenery of mountains and rice paddies. From Hanoi to Mai Chau, you will follow the highway 6 to Hoa Binh. Pass Cun slope, Ma slope Thung Khe and Thung Nhuoi mountain pass, and then Mai Chau is in your eyes sight.
Stop in Mai Chau town, you will have lunch. After that, you will come to Hang Kia village where H’mong people inhabit to start trekking. Hang Kia village is gifted by nature with its hidden beautiful sights waiting for discovery and trekking.
In the late afternoon, you will come back to the stilt house of the H’mong and have food cooked by the host. Furniture in the house is already for tourists. Food is served for dinner tonight you enjoy the host’s hospitality and sleep among nature.
Day 2: Trekking from Hang Kia village to Van Village (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Guide)
After breakfast, you will leave Hang Kia village for a trekking to Van village. This tribal village is inhabited by the White Thai. This route will give you a chance to view stunning mountain, terraces and wide valley. During the trek, you can take some breaks for snack, rest, and photographing.
After crossing a small river, you will reach Van villager. You will then have lunch and stay in the Thai’s stilt house. In the afternoon, if you wish, you can join in the Thai’s activities daily life like go to work on the rice paddy, learn to weave Tho Cam cloth or cook with the local. Ones may want to trek around this village before having dinner.
Tonight, if the host holds some activities like Xoe dancing or Sap stepping, you will have the best chance to participate in the local leisure activity and enjoy Ruou Can wine (a kind of wine in a jar drunk through pipes). Lately, you should take our feet with herbal foot massage before going to bed.
Day 3: Trekking Van village to Xo Village (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Guide)
Just wake up early to enjoy a peaceful morning to feel a real life in a local village of Vietnam before having breakfast. You will then have time to discover more until the lunch comes, we take a nap then. In the afternoon, you will continue to trek to Xo village where you will spend the night.
Day 4: Trekking from Xo village to attractive Pom Coong tribal Village (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Guide)
After breakfast you will say goodbye to the host of stilt house, you will then trek to Pom Coong tribal village. When you arrive, you’ll ‘check in’ to a stilt house in Pom Coong village, the home of a Thai ethnic minority group. After lunch, your time will be your own until your driver and guide arrive for a 15km journey to board a rowing sampan. You’ll paddle gently along the Ma River stopping en-route to visit some of the nearby ethnic minorities villages. In the late afternoon, you’ll return to Mai Chau to spend the night in a family’s stilt house.
Day 5: Mai Chau - Hanoi (Lunch, Dinner, Guide)
After breakfast, you can wander around the houses to see the daily life of local people. They specialise in weaving brocade products, and are happy to show visitors their skills. The village is operated as a community co-operative, set up by the people themselves. In the afternoon, you’ll return to Hanoi for overnight accommodation.
