This trip is a ideal for couples or honeymooners. You will be visiting Ho Chi Minh City, formally Saigon, Nha Trang and Dalat where you will be relaxed and comfortable with our spa pampering packages and stay at top spa hotels and resorts.
Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) is Vietnam at its most dizzying: a high-octane city of commerce and culture that has driven the whole country forward with its pulsating energy. A chaotic whirl, the city breathes life and vitality into all who settle here – visitors cannot help but be hauled along for the ride.
Nha Trang Beach – The beachfront has been given a huge makeover in recent years, with parks and sculpture gardens spread along the impressive shorefront, while the streets inland reveal a cosmopolitan array of dining options.
Dalat is quite different from anywhere else you’ll visit in Vietnam. You would almost be forgiven for thinking you’d stumbled into the French Alps in springtime. This was certainly how the former colonists treated it – escaping to their chalets to enjoy the cooler climate.
The French feel is compounded by a radio mast shaped like the Eiffel Tower and the local bohemian artists’ predilection for swanning around in berets. Dalat is small enough to remain charming, and the surrounding countryside is blessed with lakes, waterfalls, evergreen forests and gardens.
Honeymoon in Vietnam 9 Days
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City arrival (Dinner, Guide)
Arriving at Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel. You’ll have time to relax after your journey before a Welcome dinner. In the evening, you’ll have tickets for a performance of traditional Water Puppetry (an art form unique to northern Vietnam, and a good, light-hearted introduction to its rural culture). You’ll spend the night in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City Tour – Cu Chi Tunnels. (Breakfast, Lunch, Guide)
After breakfast, your guide will take you to discover the city. Firstly, you will visit the War Remnants Museum. You will learn about Vietnam’s recent history at Reunification Palace then visit the nearby neo-Romanesque Notre Dame Cathedral and the City's Centre Post Office before passing by the ornate Opera Theatre and the City Hall. You will end up at the Ben Thanh Market, where vendors display a vast array of goods and handicrafts, appealing to every taste.
After lunch, you leave Ho Chi Minh City on an afternoon excursion for Cu Chi. The Cu Chi Tunnels are an underground labyrinth of passageways, used by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War (or “American War” as it’s referred to here) as protection against American air raids. Those inclined are invited to crawl through selections of the tunnels to better understand what life was like for the Vietnamese soldiers during wartime. You will spend the night in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 3: Ho Chi Minh City - NhaTrang (Breakfast, Driver pickup)
After breakfast, you’ll be free until your driver arrives to take you to board the noon flight to Nha Trang. On arrival, you’ll find a car and driver waiting to take you to the resort private jetty, then a 20 minute fast boat ride to your resort. You’ll spend the night in Nha Trang.
Day 4: Full day private boat trip in Nha Trang (Breakfast, Lunch, Guide)
After breakfast, a car will take you to board a boat for a whole-day cruise to some of the small islands in the bay. You’ll anchor off Mun Island for snorkeling and a glass bottom basket boat ride to see colourful corals and the various marine life. You’ll then head to Mieu Island to enjoy a local basket boat ride and explore the life of fishermen at Mieu fishing village. If you wish, you can join other tourists for the ‘music entertainment’ with a wine and fruit party, followed by a seafood lunch on Tre Island. In late afternoon, you’ll return to the mainland and be driven to your hotel. You’ll spend the night in Nha Trang.
You’ll cruise on a private boat with Vietnamese crew members who will highlight the beauty of Nha Trang Bay. En route, plenty of wine and tropical fruits are available. The coral around Mun Island is good, provided you swim away from the area where the boats tie up.
Day 5 – Day 6: Nha Trang (Breafast)
Your time will be your own in the Six Senses Hideway Ninh Van Bay.
The Six Senses Hideaway Ninh Van Bay combines luxurious facilities and excellent personal service with an admirable commitment to environmental conservation. It’s about 40km north of Nha Trang on a precipitous rocky peninsula that can only be reached by sea. Getting there involves an hour’s drive and a twenty-minute speedboat ride.
The resort consists of 53 completely private wooden villas, the smallest of which has a floor area in excess of 150m². Every villa has its own outdoor pool, a stylish bathroom, a ‘wine cellar’ and a mini-bar with contents customised to your requirements.
The service level is remarkable. For example, you can dine more or less wherever you like – you’ll have your own cook and an attendant to cook and serve your meal for you. There’s a large swimming pool, a first-class restaurant and a Spa offering holistic diagnoses and a comprehensive range of therapies and treatments. Just off the white sand beach is an easily accessible area of pristine coral. It’s easily the most exclusive resort in Vietnam, and probably the most expensive. It’s a good choice people who seek total seclusion and unashamed indulgence, the last word in customer service or a really special honeymoon.
Day 7: Nha Trang - Dalat (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
After breakfast you will drive to Dalat. You’ll meet a remote uphill mountain road heading for the Central Highlands and Dalat. The long hill climbs and descents, winding forest roads and wild scenery are challenging, but the reward is stunning scenery. Gradually, the coastal plains fall behind as you climb 1000m where the vegetation gives way to pine forest and a more arid environment. Eventually, Dalat comes into view and soon you reach the hotel where you’ll spend the night.
Dalat is an odd sort of place. Established as a hill resort at the beginning of the last century, it attracted homesick French colonials longing for the city’s spring-like weather and pine forests. Today’s architecture is a mix of standard Vietnamese dwellings and European style villas, many in art deco style. Vietnamese people call it the ‘romantic city’, but the name owes more to comfort of the cool temperature than rings and roses where nuptials are concerned.
The ‘romantic’ epithet has another side! When you explore the city, you’ll soon realise that it’s Vietnam’s capitol of kitsch. Look for the Crazy House, the plastic swans on the lake, the Dalat Cowboys, the Mad Monk and other whimsy.
Day 8: Dalat city tour from the back of a motorbike (Breakfast, Lunch, Guide)
Today will be devoted to Dalat and its surroundings. The city is quite compact, but its hinterland extends well beyond, so we suggest a tour on the back of a motorbike. You’ll visit the Linh Phuoc Pagoda and an embroidery workshop in an attractive garden setting. Alternatively, you could visit Dalat’s railway station instead of the embroidery workshop. After lunch, Emperor Bao Dai’s Summer Palace, the Crazy House and Dalat market are on the itinerary. The day will end at a café at about 4.00 p.m.
