Water Puppet Tours

With its numerous national parks, white sand beaches, colourful villages, pagodas and ancient monuments, forests and islands, Vietnam is a land of often surprising beauty, offering cultural depth and history, increasingly combined with tourism-friendly areas offering all the facilities a modern traveller could wish for.

Vietnam’s people are its greatest asset: gregarious, friendly and eager to meet visitors. In the bustling cities, the often chaotic streets contrast ox carts with limousines, ancient rituals with sophisticated technology, and are ruled by the ubiquitous moped.

Our strength is in translating these opportunities into detailed, practical itineraries. We do luxury travel and event planning, as well as a wide range of beach, family, honeymoon, adventure, golf, veteran and cultural tours.

There is no better way to experience a destination than through the perspective of the local people. At Water Puppet Tours, this key element of local insight drives every step of our process of tour design and delivery. We provide tailor-made tours individually crafted for each client, achieving this by emphasizing the direct working relationship between the client and the tour designer and operator.

Grayline Cruise Halong Bay

What’s a “Junk Boat” you ask? It’s an ancient Asian ship style that has been in use for thousands of years, characterized by its colorful sails. It’s also where you can have one of your most fun and memorable experiences in Vietnam! Built in the traditional “Junk” boat style, our modern recreation is a luxurious way to navigate the hidden coves and towering stone pillars of Halong Bay.

Option 1: 2 Days 1 night in Halong Bay on Grayline Cruise

Highlight:

  • Embarkation at Tuan Chau, the best Marina pier in Halong Bay. Enjoy free tea at Gray Line private lounge.
  • The longest routes among other cruise operators, provide guests more time to discover diversified landscape of Halong bay.
  • Visit Vung Vieng, the less-touristic floating village which belongs to Bai Tu Long area, with manificence of limestone moutains, floating life of locals and pure environment.
  • BBQ buffet dinner with fresh seafood.
  • Quite sleeping area ( Drum Cave ), avoid the noise and bad impact from neighboring cruises.

Day 1: Hanoi – Halong – Overnight Onboard (Lunch, Dinner, Guide)

You'll be picked up from your hotel and whisked away to Halong Bay. Enjoy spectacular views of the Vietnamese countryside en route. Upon arrival at Tuan Chau Marina Pier, you'll be tendered out to the Gray Line Halong Bay cruise ship where you'll be greeted with a welcome drink and check-in to your suite. As we depart to our first stop, a fresh seafood lunch will be served onboard.

Upon arrival at Vung Vieng fishing village, it's up to you to decide to explore the side streets in a relaxing bamboo rowboat where your guides do the work or make your own way in a sea kayak. We'll explore a neighborhood of floating structures home to 65 families, a floating school and a floating information centre. You'll leave with memories to last a lifetime but to the locals, it's just another day in the life!

Continuing our cruise, we arrive at iconic Drum Cave, the perfect place to enjoy swimming alongside the ship or sunbathing on deck. A spring roll cooking class will be held on the sun deck for the gastronomically inclined. Embraced by 360 degrees of jaw-dropping views, make sure you have your camera ready. As the sun dips lower in the sky, prepare to see the sky lit ablaze like nowhere else on the planet. As the landscape melts from orange to red to blue, the stars come out to play and the party begins!

Dine on deck, beneath the magical night sky of Halong Bay, enjoying a spread of fresh grilled seafood and traditional Vietnamese dishes. After dinner, take part in festivities including karaoke singing, squid fishing, movies, card games, music and other fun activities. When you’ve had enough, retire to your suite to relax and enjoy moonlit scenes of Halong Bay.

Day 2: Halong – Hanoi (Brunch, Guide)

Head to the sun deck for the unreal experience of sunrise at sea. Allow your guide to lead you through a gentle Tai Chi class. Relaxing stretches and exercises will fill you with energy for the day. Even late risers should consider going against the flow to have this experience, if only this once. A light breakfast will be served onboard including coffee, tea and baked goods.

Arriving at our first stop, a tender will take you to visit amazing Sung Sot Cave, discovered by the French in 1901 and open to the public since 1936. This stunning site is surely one of the most impressive geological treasures of Halong Bay.

As we continue our cruise, take a moment to reflect and absorb the memories of the past two days. Enjoy magnificent scenery and a farewell buffet brunch on our cruise back to the pier. Disembark at Tuan Chau Marina, enjoying the beautiful countryside once again as you travel back to Hanoi. You'll arrive back in Hanoi in the late afternoon with plenty of time to make plans for dinner and evening activities.
